Eden Hazard has reportedly urged the Chelsea's Roman Abrahimovic to appoint Zinedine Zidane as Chelsea’s new manager else he won't extend his stay at the club.
Zinedine Zidane reportedly resigned as Real Madrid manager on Thursday and Hazard claims the Frenchman should be appointed as the Chelsea's new head coach quickly.
According to Belgian international, he has long wanted to work with Zidane saying that he is his "mentor". The Belgian's contract will come to an end next month but he'll be willing to extend his stay at the club, on the condition that they make Zozou their next manager.
Chelsea’s current manager Antonio Conte is set to leave the club this summer with his compatriot Maurizio Sarri the favourite to replace him.
The change of manager is being delayed due to the 9 million euros Chelsea will have to pay Conte for cutting his contract short and the 8 million euros release clause in Sarri’s contract with Napoli which expired on Thursday.
Abrahimovic himself has his own personal issues. He’s UK visa has expired and the UK agencies are refusing to renew his Visa until he proves the source of his wealth.
The Russian businessman has now decided to play politics with the UK agencies by putting Chelsea’s stadium reconstruction on hold, insisting he would not be investing in a country where he’s not loved.
Hazard meanwhile said he would not be committing his long-term future to Chelsea until the club sorts out both their on and off-field issues.
The two time PFA player winner said after Chelsea’s 1-0 final victory over Manchester United that Chelsea must show their ambition by bringing in top players to the club.
This will be a difficult task for the Chelsea hierarchy to meet since Zidane said during his last press conference as Real Madrid boss that he will not be rushing into another job soon.
