ISRAEL UNDER FIRE: YEMEN MISSILE HITS TEL AVIV, INJURING 16 AND CAUSING WIDESPREAD DAMAGE

A missile fired from Yemen struck Tel Aviv's southern Jaffa area overnight on Saturday, injuring over a dozen people. The missile, labeled "Palestine 2" by the Iran-backed Houthi forces, hit a public park, shattering glass and causing minor injuries to 16 people from glass fragments. Additionally, 14 people were treated for slight injuries sustained while seeking shelter, and seven people were treated for panic.

The Houthi forces claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the missile struck its target accurately and Israel's defenses failed to intercept it. This incident marks a rare instance of a failed interception over Tel Aviv, which is Israel's commercial and diplomatic center.

Since Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza began in October last year, the country has faced attacks from missiles and rockets launched by Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen, as well as from Iran itself. Almost all of these projectiles have been intercepted by Israel's air defenses.

The conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, with Israel's attacks on Lebanon killing around 4,000 people. The Houthis have targeted ships in the Red Sea, calling the attacks a response to the war in Gaza.
