FG ALLOCATES N8.42BN FOR RENOVATION OF STATE HOUSE FACILITIES

Nigeria's Federal Government has allocated N1.83 billion in the 2025 budget to transform properties seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into residential quarters for the State House in Abuja.

This move is part of a broader budget focused on renovations and maintenance of presidential and vice-presidential facilities.

The budget breakdown is as follows:

State House Quarters Renovation N1.83 billion for acquisition, refurbishment, and conversion of forfeited properties

Security Quarters Renovation N120.28 million

Presidential Villa Maintenance N5.49 billion

President's Quarters Renovation N6.39 million

State House Auditorium, Gymnasium, and Security Quarters Upgrades  N49.04 million

Vice President's Quarters and Guest House Renovation N466.86 million and N298.39 million, respectively

State House Lagos Liaison Office Maintenance N14.72 million

State House Annex Renovation N140.10 million

The total allocation for renovating residences for top government officials and State House staff in 2025 is N8.42 billion. 

This spending plan has sparked debates about the government's priorities, with critics arguing that the allocations for renovations contrast with the economic challenges faced by ordinary citizens.
