According to the TCN's General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the power rationing is necessary due to the Federal Capital Development Authority's road dualisation project along the Apo axis.
The project requires the relocation of eight 132 kilovolt (kV) and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line. The affected areas include Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, and Apo Mechanic.
Additionally, parts of Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe Chika, and Alaita axis will also be affected by the power outage.
The TCN explained that the power outage will occur daily from 9 am to 4 pm, allowing for the dismantling and construction of the towers, as well as the restringing of power cables.
The company apologized for the inconvenience the planned power outage will cause and assured customers that power supply will be restored as soon as the towers relocation and cable stringing are completed.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company had earlier announced a similar power interruption in parts of its franchise areas from January 6 to January 21.
